There are two ways to create a family:


During Case Creation

Tick the option to ‘Automatically create a Family for this Case’ at the bottom of the case creation screen. 

Note: This option is available for Patents, Trade Marks and Designs and is ticked by default. The ‘Family Name’ will be the same as the Short Title and can be edited at a later date (see Family Management).


From the Family tab


If you do not create the family at the point of creating the case, you can set up the family from the Family tab of the case.

You will have two options:


- Allocate a new Family name: Type the name you would like to assign to the family > Click ‘Allocate’.

 

- Or, assign to an existing Family: Select the name of an existing family from the drop down list > Click ‘Assign’.
