There are various ways to create inventor contacts in your system that are outlined in the table below:
Option | Description |
1. Within the Address Book | This is the standard way to create new inventors: - Go to the Address Book tab
- Click on the ‘Applicant and Inventor Contacts’ section
- Click ‘Add Contact’
- Select Organisation or Individual
- Choose Inventor or Applicant/Inventor if the contact is both
- Fill in the Details
- Link the Inventor to a Client Organisation as a Statutory Contact (Optional)
- Click ‘Save’ to add the contact or ‘Cancel’ to prevent the changes being saved
|
2. When Creating A Client/Associate/Other Side Contact | When creating an Individual Client, Associate or Other Side Contact users have the option to create the contact as an inventor too. - Go to the Address Book
- Click 'Add Individual > Client/Associate/Other Side'
- In the ‘Also create’ drop down, select if the contact details should also be stored as an Inventor
|
4. Within An Organisation Statutory Contact List | When viewing a Client, Associate or Other Side Contact in the Address Book it is possible to create Inventors, Applicants, and Licensees as Statutory Contact. - Go to the Address Book tab and click on an Organisation
- Click ‘Add New’ next to Statutory Contacts in the bottom right
- Fill in the Details
- Click ‘Save’ to add the contact or ‘Cancel’ to prevent the changes being saved
The contact will automatically be linked to the Organisation as a Statutory contact. |
5. From a Person/Location | An inventor contact can be generated from an existing Person or Location in a Client/Associate/Other Side Organisation: - Go to the Address Book tab and find the Client Organisation
- Click on a Location OR Person
- Click ‘Generate Inventor’ OR ‘Generate Applicant/Inventor’ in the left hand menu
- The Person/Location will be created as an Inventor straight away and will be linked as a Statutory Contact to the Client
- Amend any Details and Click Save
This is useful if you have forgotten to create an applicant record when creating the Client. |
6. Adding An Inventor To A Case | At the point of linking an inventor contact to a case, you are also creating a new applicant recorded in the Address Book. - On the Contacts Tab of a case go to ‘Inventors’
- Click ‘Add Inventor’
- Go to ‘Create New Inventor’ and fill in the Details
- Click ‘Save’
The inventor will be linked to the case and be saved to your Address Book. |
