This article outlines how to record the goods/services and classes for your trade mark and design cases.
There are two ways to do this:
- Separate Goods/Services and Classes Fields (Historic Functionality)
- Integrated Goods/Services and Classes Field (Newest Functionality)
Separate Goods/Services and Classes Fields
Before Equinox Version 8.1, goods/services and classes could only be recorded in separate fields.
If using this functionality:
- Enter the Classes separated by a comma to be compatible with the 'National Rights tool' used to create cases for designated states
- Enter the corresponding Goods/Services in a separate field beneath
Integrated Goods/Services and Classes Field
Equinox Version 8.1 has introduced a new, integrated field to record and display goods/services and classes on trade mark cases.
If using this functionality:
- Click 'Edit' on the right of the 'Goods and Classes' field
- Select the class, language and enter the goods/services description > Click 'Add'
Advantages of Using the Integrated Field
The integrated field displays additional information on the Details tab (see above screen shot). The table below outlines the main advantages of using the integrated Good/Services and Classes field.
Advantage | Description |
Add Goods in Multiple Languages | As the integrated field enables you to select a language, it is possible to add a class in more than one language to use in reports, correspondence and applications. Note: Only one entry can be recorded per language, per class. E.g. you cannot have 2 entries for class 7 in English. |
Class count | On the Details tab of the case, it is possible to view the number of classes. |
Ability to record sub-classes | For your Design cases you can record a sub-class. |
Goods/Services text can be copied per class to National Rights of Madrid cases | When using the 'National Rights' tool to create cases for the designated states of your Madrid, the Goods/Services text will be copied, per selected class, to the national cases (previously only the classes would be copied). |
Improved Reporting | New columns are available in the Report Generator to display Classes and the corresponding Goods/Services text in separate rows. |
