When does the plugin automatically link Word documents to Equinox documents?

The plugin automatically links Word documents to Equinox documents when:

  • You've downloaded a document from Equinox

  • You're working on a copy of a document that has previously been saved to Equinox

This means when you use the Save to Matter option, the matter code will already be pre-populated. The ribbon will also display the matter details that the document is linked.

If you're working on a new document that isn't yet stored on Equinox, the fields in the ribbon will be blank, and you'll be prompted to manually input the matter code when saving to Equinox.

After selecting ‘Next’, you can input the document details on the document details form:

If the document already exists on Equinox, the 'Document Details' screen will display the information as it is stored on Equinox. The information displayed on this screen includes:

  • Document notes
  • Folder classifications
  • Attention of
  • Attention status

These fields can be modified. The changes will be reflected in Equinox when you have saved the matter.

Which save options do I have?

You can save documents to matters in the following ways.

  • Save Version: Updates the Equinox document with the latest version (previous versions will be available through version history in the system)
  • Save New: Creates a whole new document entry on the matter

Note: For documents that aren’t yet linked to Equinox, only a standard ‘Save’ option will be available.

When you are saving the document to Equinox, you can convert the document to a PDF by following the steps below:

  1. Change the 'Status' dropdown to 'finalised'
  2. Check the ‘Convert to PDF’ field
