The National Rights option enables users to quickly create national cases for registered designs or international trademarks.

Steps to Create National Rights Cases


The following steps outline the process:


1. Go to the Details tab of the WO/WP/WA case 

 

 

2. Click the ‘National Rights’ option in the left hand menu

This option will be available on all registered design/trademark cases that have the country code WA/WO/WP. For trademarks, designated states will need to be recorded.


3. Choose which nations to create a case for.

            By default, all countries are selected. Untick any that should not be created.

 

 

4. Check the other case information options 

Please see the table on Default National Rights Fields below.

 

5. Click ‘Submit’ to create the cases

            You will be returned to the Details tab of the Madrid case.

 

The new cases will automatically be added to the case Family. The child case codes will be displayed in the right hand side of the Details tab on the Madrid case.

 

Note: For trademark cases, you will not be able to use the National Rights option until Designated States are recorded on a Madrid case. For more information on how to record Designated States please see the section on Trademark Management.


Default National Rights Fields

 

Any fields highlighted in the table below can be edited when the National Rights cases are created.
